The 5 weirdest things happening in Calgary this week

Hey there, Calgary! It’s Tuesday and things are about to get strange. There are only so many light displays, fireplaces and egg nog drinking one can take before they go Kris Kringle crazy, so why not mix up your plans with something of the offbeat variety? Here are the 5 weirdest things happening in Calgary this week to help you out!
Perfect the art of sass
Bring a pair of heels and learn to… do things with sass? We’re not entirely sure what exactly this class entails, but they recommend that you also bring a bottle of water and some friends. Honestly, we’re kind of intrigued. This sass class is free, so why the heck wouldn’t you check it out?
When: Wednesday, December 18 – 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Where: 2, 1709 – 8 Avenue N.E., Calgary
Cost: FREE
Paint your pet
Bring a picture of your own pet (or one you found of someone else’s on Google image search) and paint away, Picasso! Baked goods and creative juices like wine, beer and spirits will be available for purchase all night long. Just watch those crumbs! Scruffy deserves better than to have sugar cookie in his portrait.
When: Thursday, December 19th – 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm
Where: 1223 – 11 Avenue S.W., Calgary
Cost: $40
Rope Workshop
Honestly, we’ve seen too many movies to trust anyone that would need to know more than one way to tie a knot, but according to the event listing, this workshop exists only to “give you the ease of access into the world of Rope.” There you go guys, rope has an entire world of its own and it requires ease of access.
When: Friday, December 20th – 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Where: 544 – 42 Ave S.E., Calgary
Cost: $15

Art, conspiracies and Krampus
Buy and sell your local art… but then also meet psychics and discuss conspiracy theories with like-minded individuals. After you’ve mutually agreed with other guests that the moon landing was a hoax, go ahead and take a picture with Krampus, the lovable Christmas icon that eats children instead of fruitcake. We only have one question: When you meet the big guy, do you get a photo sitting on his lap, or an action shot running for your life instead? Either way, it sounds like next year’s Christmas card to us!
When: Saturday December 21st – 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Where: 4108 – 7 Ave S.E., Calgary
Cost: FREE
Who you gonna call?! Ghosts named Buster?
Allow an experienced guide to teach you the ins and outs of communication with the spirit world. Learn to connect, work with, and feel love from the other side…no experience necessary. Sounds legit.
When: Friday, December 20th – 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Where: 1603 – 6th Avenue N.W., Calgary
Cost: $10
There you have it, Calgary, the weirdest things to do this week. We just can’t take our newly learnt sass for a spin over the holidays when our parents ask us why we’re not married yet. Ahh, it’s going to be an eventful Christmas. Stay strange, Calgary!
