Inside the Kensington coffee shop changing the world one sip at a time

Ahh, warm fuzzy feelings, and a warm, tasty brew. There’s really no better way to start the day! Good Trade Co. in Kensington serves coffee with a purpose. They brew a delicious cup of joe, and support low-income families and communities in Colombia through the sale of their product. Damn, that’s a whole latte love in each cup!

The relationship these guys have with their coffee farmers goes well beyond supply and demand. Good Trade Co. delivers education programs in the rural schools of the communities they purchase from, in return for the best product available.
“We believe that helping kids develop strong life skills will help them be more effectively educated and will have huge positive effects on regions that have been terribly hurt by internal conflict and the drug trade,” said Director of the Good Trade Company, Brandon Waardenburg, to Curiocity.

Brandon said they are able to fund this work by selling their tasty americanos, lattes and cappuccinos… as if you needed another reason to caffeinate. The importance of a good brew and good service has been key in changing as many lives as they have.
Quality is of the highest level at this place. The products they source, the training they give their employees, and the programs they run are all backed by decades of practice and experience; not because they just want to be the best they can, but because they want to do the best they can.

Almost everything and anything is better when there’s something bigger on the line, right? Seriously, the coffee is no joke at Good Trade Co! You can learn more about their work, their product or even order online here.
