Oh yes, folks, we’re all too happy to report that the opportunity to buy the Masonic Temple in downtown Calgary is a real thing. While it’s reportedly being sold for just under $10M, we’d like to take a different approach today.
Instead of the same old story, we’ve got a couple of ways that you could turn around this 17,000 square foot heritage building. We’re pretty hip here at Curiocity, so it should work out.
Your first option is to recreate a salon from the early 20th century with a kind of secret society twist. Host jazz shows, have weird parties… whatever strikes your fancy. Well, as long as people buy tickets because you still have to afford the property taxes.

The second choice is turning it into a restaurant featuring a speakeasy bar. Now that would cost a significant amount of dough to create, but you’ve got a building here that is a destination in itself. Restaurant for birthdays and date night dinners, bar for the regulars and after-work drinks? We’d check it out.
Of course, the new owners of the building can do whatever they want with it. But, if you’re reading this, please come let us look around before you tear the place down.
