The most recent contest to win a building in Canada is definitely the weirdest we’ve seen this year. Sure, it’s one thing to give away a house that’s not necessarily selling, but a 9,000 square foot commercial space in the middle of Alberta? Hey, if it works it works, we guess.
Located in Glendon, Alberta, the building used to belong to agriculture equipment provider AgZone. But, they outgrew the space and put it on the market. After a while, they decided that a better way to do things was by hosting a contest to determine a fitting future occupant! Totally logical train of thought!

We know what you’re thinking- “Dang, this is the perfect spot to start up a performance art collective/personal petting zoo/dark sky preserve”. We’re right there with you. If you think you’ve got what it takes to earn this space, then you need to provide a business pitch and come up with a $250 application fee.
If your application is chosen, then you’ll be sold the property, mortgage-free, for a buck. Not a bad swap, if you ask us!
